Accreditation
Laboratory Accreditation Status
The four forensic testing laboratories and the calibration (Breath Alcohol) laboratory are currently accredited by the ANSI National Accreditation Board (ANAB), which requires conformance to:
- ISO/IEC 17025 International Standard
- ANAB developed accreditation requirements specific to forensic science testing and calibration laboratories
- FBI Quality Assurance Standards for Forensic DNA Testing Laboratories and DNA Databasing Laboratories
The Virginia Department of Forensic Science (DFS) has been accredited since 1989.
