Central Lab
The Central Laboratory employs a staff of about 115 to provide the following services:
- Bloodstain Pattern Analysis
- Breath Alcohol Certification
- Controlled Substances
- Firearms & Toolmarks
- Forensic Biology
- Forensic Toxicology (including DUI & DUID)
- Latent Prints
- Photo Processing
- Questioned Documents
- Trace Evidence (including alcoholic beverages & GSR)
- Training & Forensic Academy
The Central Laboratory is located in historic downtown Richmond, the state capital. Capitol Square and the Medical College of Virginia (MCV) are within a few blocks.
Our “Biotech Two” building opened in the Virginia Biotechnology Research Park in June of 1998. We share the facility with the Central Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
Our location at 700 North Fifth Street is adjacent to Richmond's Convention Center and the Richmond Coliseum.
