Forensic Science Academy Application Process
Note: DFS is now accepting the Forensic Science Academy Application online. Please review the following information on the application process and then follow the instructions at the bottom of this page to register.
Application Process
- Candidates from Law Enforcement Agencies complete the online Academy application.
- Candidates submit the Agency Head/Supervisor Statement (.pdf or .doc, 1 page)
- New candidate applications are sent to respective regional laboratories to be scheduled for testing and interviews.
- New candidates are interviewed.
- The Forensic Science Academy Selection Committee meets to select candidates for the upcoming session. The Committee meets in January to determine the upcoming Fall class and meets again in June to determine the upcoming Spring class.
- Selected candidates and their agency heads are notified. Candidates not selected are notified as well and their applications are held for consideration for the next Academy class. Applications are considered active for three years and must be updated at the end of the active time frame. DFS will notify candidates who's applications need to be updated.
Application
Applications are accepted through an online process. Click the following button to proceed with your application. The application is lengthy and will require personal and business contact information, and employment and educational history information. Please have that information ready before proceeding.
Once you have completed the online application, you will need to have your agency head or supervisor complete the Forensic Science Academy Application Agency Head/Supervisor's Statement (.pdf or .doc, 1 page) to finalize your application.
