Questioned Documents

The Questioned Document Section conducts assorted examinations and comparisons of both handwritten and machine generated documents (or their components) in order to determine various facts, generally in an effort toward establishing authenticity or orgin.

Specifically, we examine:

  • questioned and known handwritten or hand printed documents to identify the author
  • mechanically produced documents to identify the source of the documents
  • documents for erasures, alterations, obliterations, indented writing, secret or disappearing ink and to recover original texts
  • charred and water soaked documents to recover the original text and perform physical matches of torn or cut paper products
