Laboratory Capabilities & Update - Roanoke, VA 04/19/2018

Date(s): Thursday, April 19th 2018 at 09:00 AM

The Department of Forensic Science will be hosting a laboratory information session at each regional facility. The session will discuss current capabilities of the laboratory system and topics of interest to those who process crime scenes and submit evidence to the laboratory. DFS laboratory staff will be presenting select topics and updates, and will be available for discussion/questions. Forensic Training staff will provide updates on new techniques and material being taught in the academy.

If there are interested participants, the session will end with a discussion period which allows Forensic Science Academy graduates to present concerns, new ideas and other topics of interest. The Forensic Training Section encourages graduates to share their knowledge of new methods and techniques, or resources, they have found particularly useful as well as any experience and knowledge gained by a particular case. If you are interested in doing so, either informally or in a presentation format, please contact Jeff Dwyer at 804-588-4144.

This class will be held at the Virginia Department of Forensic Science’s Western Laboratory located at 6600 Northside High School Road, Roanoke, VA. Class will begin at 9:00 a.m. and is tentatively scheduled to end at 12:30 p.m.
