This two and a half day seminar is designed to keep the Homicide Investigator or the officer with special interest in this type of subject area abreast of information and technical developments concerning this important field, and also to provide the framework for statewide communication among Homicide Investigators. Information will be presented through case study presentations of homicides or suspicious deaths, technical updates on the various forensic disciplines, and lectures of particular interest such as legal developments (4 hours).

If you have a case study or other applicable presentation to deliver to the group, please contact Jeff Dwyer at 804-588-4144 or Jeffrey.Dwyer@dfs.virginia.gov.

There is no fee to attend this course and registration is restricted to personnel from Virginia law enforcement and fire agencies as well as Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Offices.

Meeting space has been reserved that will allow for up to 48 attendees, seated 6 feet apart. Current hotel and State policies require the wearing of facemasks in the common areas of the hotel. However, once in the meeting space facemasks will be optional unless the guest speakers prefers that they be worn.

The seminar will be held at the DoubleTree Hotel – Richmond Airport (see “Course Resources” for further information, including lodging), beginning at 8:30 a.m. each day. **NOTE: This is a different hotel from where this seminar has been held the last 15-plus years**.
